HUMAN SOARS at the 2012 Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair

OPSQF 2012 Initial Website Graphic small B On February 7, 2012, HUMAN co-presented the Professional Development Session "Using Appreciative Inquiry to Create Collaboration and Innovation in Strategic Planning" at the Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair (www.ottawapsqf.ca). The Fair is the largest annual event in Canada focusing on excellence in the public sector, and this year's theme was “Collaboration, Innovation and Excellence” with the spotlight on helping public sector employees increase their innovation and the quality of their work in a time of budget restraint. The Fair is co-hosted by Excellence Canada (www.excellence.ca, formerly the National Quality Institute) and the Canadian Public Sector Quality Association (www.cpsqa.ca).

The nature of the subject focused on the Appreciative Inquiry based SOAR Framework for strategic planning and was tremendously received by participants. Through use of the SOAR Framework, organizations can turn traditional strategic planning pitfalls such as low engagement, top down direction and mediocre results into an organizational wide, highly innovative and energizing co-creation represented by all facets of the organization and its stakeholders.
